Several years ago I did it on a B&G type C MHU. You will find no problem if the corrosion has not reached a severe grade.A while back, someone posted about changing bearings in the mast head unit, can anyone remember who it was please?

Thanks for that, thats what I was after, I found the previous posters article but it is how to get the bearings out of the module that I was after, how are they held in, can i push on the shaft, do i try to remove the magnet?Several years ago I did it on a B&G type C MHU. Those bearings are not easy to find (small, s/s and shielded) but you may have them sent in an envelope at a very convenient cost by

I am very sorry but it was long ago and I hardly remember. I have an opened spare unit I could look at but it is in my lab and I will not have a chance to go there before next week-end.Thanks for that, thats what I was after, I found the previous posters article but it is how to get the bearings out of the module that I was after, how are they held in, can i push on the shaft, do i try to remove the magnet?

Interested in the C type method of replacement. Have to get MHU off the top of mast to replace the anenometer bearings shortly. Do these require the removal of screws as shown on diagram on Opendijk website for 236 type? Or is there another way in??!Thanks for that, thats what I was after, I found the previous posters article but it is how to get the bearings out of the module that I was after, how are they held in, can i push on the shaft, do i try to remove the magnet?

I managed yesterday, I knocked the bits out from the top, a slight mistake as it destroyed the circlip which is so small it wasnt noticeable! I will either get a new circlip or use a dab of loctite to hold them together. The proper way, now it is dismantled and I can see, is to use a small allen key thru the lock hole on the bottom to loosen the threaded bit that holds the spinner, remove that and then press the shaft out upwards, then knock the bottom bearing out. I have found a supplier of bearings and need to confirm they can supply shielded SS ones and then I will re assemble. I am going to do a PBO article and see if they want it.Stu,
Did you manage to get the bearings out. Looks like I have to do the same job.
I have the replacement bearings, but some advise would be welcome before tackling the job
Cheers

got pix but need to keep them for the article, the grub screw is thru the hole that you use to lock the spinner while you tighten the spinner nut. Many thanks Stu, so I need to look out for the small grub screw. I knew about the circlip.
Did you manage to get any pictures of the process of dismantling??
