I have a B&G system on board comprising a number of Triton instruments and two Zeus2 plotters.

Having spent this summer using the system and studying the (not very helpful) manuals I have not yet found a way to display the waypoint name on the instruments (something my old Raymarine kit was capable of) and when I select a waypoint using one of the plotters then Bearing, Distance to waypoint, etc are all transferred to the second plotter but not the waypoint name which remains blank where it should be displayed.

Has anybody tried or succeeded in either of these endeavors? (the plotter issue is the most annoying at the moment)

Many thanks.

I'll have a look this evening. I have two Zeus Touch plotters on board and have only entered a few waypoints into one of them - I never thought to look at the other to see if they were there as well.

I have exactly the same problem with a Garmin plotter and a Raymarine display. Turns out the information can be transmitted and received on two different PGN's, and the instruments use different ones. The manufacturers have been reasonably helpful - except neither has given much hope of either of them solving the issue.

Have become very disappointed with NMEA2000. Should be 'plug and play' with all information going round the network. Would be very tempted to stick to one manufacturer if doing it again as this probably has more chance of using the same PGNs.

What we need is a YAPP that will take info from one PGN and turn it into another....

Only have the one plotter with Triton instruments. We were assured that we would be able to send the waypoint name to the instruments, a feature of the previous Garmin that we liked very much. We now find that it can only be displayed on the 'highway' page, in extremely small writing that can barely be read a metre away.

The B&G manuals are most disappointing, it has taken constant effort over the season to become anything like familiar with the systems, unlike the Garmin that was so intuitive with an excellent manual.

The touch screen causes more trouble than it is worth, every time I try to move the view I enter another waypoint!

Little Grebe... I did just tick the check boxes on the Zeus at the chart table and the five waypoints that I had previously created on the Zeus at the helm did immediately appear on the screen at the chart table. The menu help appeared to suggest only newly created waypoints would be replicated but it seems that existing ones were replicated since that's all I already had.

Then clicking on 'goto' on one of the way points at the helm Zeus did then show the Zeus at the chart table as heading for the same waypoint.

Names on way points appear when touched but not all the time. .. it's late to try further. ..

The tick boxes I ticked were in Settings, network , nmea2000 - 'receive waypoint' and 'send waypoint'.

When canceling the 'go to' at the chart table, the helm screen showed cancelled as well. .so seems to work both ways.

Hope this helps.

Martin - thanks for looking and I will check the NMEA 2000 set up options.

I think our plotters are behaving the same way but I may have mine set up to show different information. Hopefully I will be down to the boat at the weekend so will post a screen shot from each plotter if it is still 'misbehaving'

Cant say that I am impressed by my new B G plotter. In some respects its not as competent as the 2005 Raymarine it replaced, particularly in the routing.

Finally on board :)

NEMA 2000 setting for both say send/receive waypoint, displays having selected a waypoint on the plotter at the nav (first one) station as below;
