So I have inherited a very nice set of B&G Network gear with the boat, wind, quad and pilot that were all installed from new(1998)

With the log it seems to seriously under read - against a gentle tide (maybe 1knot) we were showing 0 knots of boat speed for 1-2 knots SOG then slowly increased, from there generally seeming to be 2-3 knots less than SOG where I would be expecting maybe 1 knot more. Gear is all clean, freshly anti fouled bottom and rotates cleanly so not concerned re that.

I haven't calibrated it yet so will do this next time i'm out but does anyone with Network gear have any experience of calibrating to remove that sort of error. It feels like a large error to remove by calibration so am concerned that there may be something more fundamental.

Follow the calibration routine in the manual, it takes about three runs over a defined distance but works well. Had to do this with our B&G and it solved a similar problem.

When you were against the tide you should have had some reading, I suggest the log impeller is jamming or fouled, forget calibration till you sort that out.

That was my thought but log had not been in so no fouling and span freely by hand so had eliminated those. T under read so much I thought it was only reading 1/2 speed but if that was the case I would have expected to see 0.3- 0.5 on the log whilst moored head to tide.

Will try and calibrate and see if that does it.
