I don't have the unit in front of me and I'm not sure what the problem might be (if any) but I understand that the seals go on these and/or hydraulic fluid. Has anyone on the forum worked on one? Would the hydraulic fluid be standard hydraulic oil? and is it easy to top up? Are third party seals available?
Thanks

I have no experience of B&G rams but I have just re-installed my steering ram of unknown manufacture following a full refurb by Nicol and Andrew Ltd. at Hillington, Glasgow.
They stripped the ram and gave a free quote, then honed the cylinder, polished the piston rod and replaced all seals, two of which had to be made up. It took less than a week at a very fair price.

I have no connection with the firm other than as a satisfied customer.
For oil I bought a generic hydraulic steering fluid from ASAP supplies which is a sensibly priced alternative to Vetus fluid (my pump is a Vetus model).
