Azores 2012

I just got the word that my '79 Westerly Berwick ketch, at 30.9 feet, will be allowed, so I'm starting to work out the logistics of being at the starting line in 2012.

I expect I will make my way south this coming 2011 season and winter in the UK. As the ice doesn't usually melt up here until late April, if I didn't head south until 2012 it would be a mad rush south to make the starting line and be ready in time, with no room for last minute issues, etc.

We'll see.

I'm as definite as I can be that I'll be there for the start in 2012. I'll be 66 then and have now lost the delusion of immortality but I'm planning for the trip. Also gives me the window for a decent jaunt in 2011 so preparation isn't too Donald Crowhurst.

Greetings,

If/when you decide to head south next year, call into Ramsgate, we can have a drink - or two and discuss Azores/Jester 2012.

I have my Atlanta berthed there and hope to take her south if poss.

All best - air winds

David

Thanks very much for the invite. I'll certainly keep you in mind.

Tentative plan at the moment is to head over late this coming summer and winter the boat in/around Maldon, so I can have easy access over the winter via Stanstead / Ryan Air. Then head around to Plymouth sometime in late April or beginning of May 2012 for the Challenge.

If things go to plan, we can either hook up sometime during the winter in Maldon, Ramsgate, or somewhere in between, or then on my way to Plymouth (though that's a bit late for much discussion and trading of notes, at that point).

It's a long way off, so we'll see how things develop.

Cheers,

Patrick

Well...... another for the 2012 list is a Corribee 21 called 'Oriental Moondance'... not forgetting myself.
See you out there guys... if I don't kick it before then...:p
