Azimut 50, fatal accident (shocking post)

20th July 2010 , Olesia Ivanova ( Russian lady 25) was apparently drunk with a near fatal amount of alcohol however managed to swim 15-30 meters outside of a buoyed swim zone.

She apparently then received a fatal collision with an Azimut 50 apparently driven by Sergei Machenko.

Caught on camera you can ascertain for yourself just how far outside the swim zone she was.

Does anyone know what happened next regarding a hearing / prosecution ?

I have made several searches but all I can find is another swimming death of General Yuri (deputy head of Russias Military Intelligence) and a mysterious suicide (shot in the head) of Vicktor Chevrizou (Intelligence Chief of Russian interior troops)

Sergei Machenko is the spokesman for the prosecutors committee looking into the above two deaths.

Does anyone know if Sergei Machenko is one and the same person who was allegedly driving the Azimut or if the name is the Russian equivalent to John Smith ???

I have no idea if Olesia Ivanova had any connections to the Russian intelligence, thats where my next search was going to be when my computer started to play up, with all the current hacking reports I decided to post a half bodged report in the hope someone else can remember the details or find out what is going on .

I don't actually understand your post but that video is quite shocking. Surprising the boat doesn't run aground as it only looked knee deep. Didn't see it actually hit anyone but wouldn't be surprised if there had been multiple casualties.

I'm pretty sure the helmsman was in similar condition.
 
Lets be honest anyone who drives like that can't call themselves a helmsman or even a boater, they are obviously a complete tw*t who shouldn't be allowed to operate anything more complicated than a tin opener! More than likely a russian chav with more money than braincells, I hope he gets suitably punished.
The sad thing they are on the increase we have more than our far share of them here in Norway as people here have the cash to buy boats but not the first idea of how to operate them.
 
Thats an awful video and I hope the skipper got locked up for a long time. As spannerman says, Russian and East European dickheads with more money than brains are an increasing problem with motorboats. There's a fair few of them where I boat in Croatia and I try to stay clear of them

the skipper (if you can call him that) already had a criminal record (served about 3yrs of a 4 year sentence). He justified his actions here by saying that if he had slowed down he would have killed many more people as he skidded across the water.

Not sure if he has been to court and sentenced for this, hopefully he gets/got a long time.

Maybe something lost in translation here but taken from that story:

“Why did I fail to slow down? Because if I braked, I would have skidded and injured a lot of people,” said the captain.

Allegedly he is a very experienced boater :confused:
 
According to witnesses, Olesya called for help and tried to swim. She was shocked and did not realize that the propeller of the boat almost completely cut off her legs. “The boat drove straight through her, but Olesya continued swimming although her feet were cut off, I guess she was shocked,” Lyudmila, a witness of the accident told Komsomolskaya Pravda. “Her legs were cut up to the buttocks, to the bone.”

'The accident occurred in the Pirogovskoye reservoir after swimmers asked a passing yacht to create some waves for them'. Well that's ok then coz he was doing the swimmers a favour!!!! Looks to me as tho' he knew EXACTLY what he was doing!..much like car driver deliberately driving thru deep puddle to soak pedestrians for a laugh only with devastating consequences. No words to describe really. Unforgiveable behaviour. What an absolute w..ker!!:mad:

He is quoted in the report as saying:
“I moved closer to the area where people were swimming. They asked me to make a wave. I turned around, accelerated and was moving along the rope with buoys."

It's hard to believe that every swimmer there asked for this and that any experienced helmsman would consider it acceptable to do it.
Something else that confuses me is that this took place on a reservoir. How big must the reservoir be that you would consider putting an Azimut 50 on it? (I'm assuming it's not a reservoir as we would find in Central London).

Found this, apparently you have access to many different bodies of water, all linked to a few artificial reservoirs.

In the 1930s the 128-kilometre Moscow Canal was built, linking the Moskva River with the Volga and thus the White, Baltic and Caspian seas, and later the Azov and Black seas.
