Axiom 9 all working well with WiFi Quantum and today I tried out the RayView app. So after eventually discovering the Axiom randomly generated passphrase It said something like “The Quantum settings will change proceed yes or no” I pressed yes to then successfully connected to my iPad.
Except the Quantum stopped its connection to the Axiom.
I reconnected the Quantum and the app stopped working.

How **** is that!

Interesting.
We are currently refitting our S34 electronics with Raymarine kit and I am going to hardwire the Quantum to the Axiom for this very reason i.e. not sure I trust a WiFi connection. Not helpful to you I know so sorry - don’t mean to compound the problem :)

I must admit I was led by the “tecky” aspect. When wiring up it saves no time going down the WiFi route because you have to wire electrics to the Quantum anyway.
I’m wondering now if I can still hardwire the Quantum. I can’t remember if the socket is still there on the WiFi version.

It isn’t clear looking at the installation instructions. They seem to sell the two variants separately i.e. one with data as well as power cable but I can’t see whether or not they are effectively the same unit.

I guess you will be speaking with the dealer? Maybe a simple software fix will resolve your problem?

I’ve just posted a note to Cactus (where I bought the stuff from) to ask if the WiFi version has a hardwire socket. Will report back.

Be interested to hear the outcome.

Our stuff is arriving in dribs and drabs because it appears that demand has unexpectedly gone through the roof over the last month or so after a very quiet period. Currently fitting autopilot and modular VHF so plenty to do until the Axiom and Quantum arrive in the next week or so. Trying very hard not to think of the cost as even my ‘man maths’ is struggling with this one! :)

I have Axiom 7 and Quantum with WIFI. I also connect smartphone and tablet with wireless and it all works fine at the same time. I can see radar and plotter with wireless on both. The distance between plotter and Radar scanner is about 10 metres. Been using it for six months with no problems. My Quantum which I bought as wireless can be hard wired it has two plugs. So what you are trying should work. The software on my Axiom is 3.8, there was a new release in February. Mine is on a Sailing boat, not that that makes any difference.

Well done chaps
Success
I downloaded the latest update and it all works perfectly. Axiom Quantum and RayView
The update was 750Mb so well within my iphone allowance.
I am sooooo pleased. I was starting to regret going Quantum WiFi although not sure of any real benefit.
Cheers
David
PS
When you press the ********* to proceed ( the instructions don’t mention this by the way)
I still get this message but the YES didn’t affect the Quantum this time.

The instructions also don’t say on the next screen press “Show Passphrase”
The passphrase is of course what you put into your iPad to connect.

How are you supposed to figure this out without the help of forums!!

Pleased you got it sorted.

As an aside, I have been looking at the installation instructions in readiness for the arrival of ours and it looks as though both the power and data cables come with plugs hard wired - and in the case of the data cable plugs at both ends. I am wondering how on earth I will get it through a grommet / fitting into the radar arch. Any ideas?
