I think the record utility is new for this year's models. You can record live TV or set up the timer - it will record onto a USB stick or external HDD.
I've just been to Comet with a tape measure. I found a 19" JVC with the same problem too. The picture was also stretched on that. All the other 19" TVs had a 9" high screen and the distortion on the JVC was really noticable when viewed side by side.
I can't believe that people buy these TVs and don't notice the stretching.
I ended up buying another TV, a Kenmark. All I need now is an Amperor stabilised PSU and I'm sorted. It was half the price of the Avtex to boot (and a much better picture).
