I bought a little Avon Typhoon several years ago but it is too big for my current needs so I have not used it. It looks well made, but is white with tourquoise and navy trim so looks a bit flashy, and has an Avon serial number on it. I guess like all PVC dinghies it would not like much exposure to sunlight.
Mine is a D230 (round tail with detachable o/b bracket. floor boards, oars bag and repair kit ) and when new cost £454 from Cruisermart in jan 1996 .
I would not buy one without inspecting it. A hypalon Avon would be a safer bet IMHO.
I have had a Typhoon for over 20 years. It carries 4 adults, is virtually indestructible. It has four slide in wooden floor panels, which are fine but make it bulky to store in a locker. I do not use these and instead have a separate fold up floor which is stored separately, and which I made out of MDF "teak" floor linked together with canvas tapes. The dinghy is in a subtle shade of "squashed frog green", and so can easily be found in the public jetty in Cowes because all the others are in battleship grey
I've had a Typhoon 2.6m for 7-8 years, nice little dinghy. Floor slats gave up after five years, probably cos I didn't take them out when rolling up and they never dried properly.
