Note sure where to put this on the forums as we don't want to sell anything, so please bear with me.

After a very nice summer cruise it's clear that we have to take steps to put an outboard on our old Avon redstart tender (we also felt the odd one out at the pirates weekend when we got the oars out and rowed!)

There are two parts to this:-

Firstly, brackets very rarely come up on ebay (or elsewhere it seems), and new cost more than we're willing to pay.

Second the outboard we have is a 2000 Mariner 3.3, a great engine, but just too powerful for a redstart.

So:-

- Does anyone have an old avon bracket in the shed they'd be willing to part with for a consideration

and

- Does anyone want to swap a 2ish hp 2 stroke for our 3.3, maybe with some consideration either way to balance any difference?

We live in Peterborough and sail from Titchmarsh at Walton so we would be prepared to travel at least in that corridor to manage the transactions.

Many thanks for reading.

I have one, sound condition and very serviceable, I reckoned on selling this on E-Bay as they go for £50+ usually, but for a forumite £45 plus postage, or collect from Bromley/Medway

Bargain.

shamal, are you sure the 3.3 is too much? Just dont use as much throttle. I am sure the weight is similar to a 2.3/2.5?

How can you tell if a bracket is suitable for a Redstart or Redcrest? Seems there is a difference.

There isn't ,the same bracket fits both as they have the same size tubes; the differences start with the Redshank/Redseal which have larger tubes

Many thanks for the kind offer, have sent a PM.

We'll try it with the 3.3, if you see a Redstart on the plane you'll know who it is !:D
