Southampton Sports Boat and RIB Show 2007

5 May to 7 May 2007

To facilitate demonstrations a restricted area has been set aside as the On The Water Events Area in the approach channel to Hamble Point Marina. This area will be marked with six yellow pillar buoys and patrolled by safety boats during periods when active demonstrations are taking place. In the interests of safety, all craft not participating in the event must keep well clear of the restricted area (marked by temporary buoys and vessels). All vessels should proceed with caution and keep a good lookout whilst navigating in or near the area of Hamble Point Marina. Vessel completing demonstrations within the controlled restricted area will, on some occasion, exceed the 6 knot speed and wash limit.

I thought it was advisable to avoid the Hamble completely, never mind one weekend in May /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

popped in the other weekend with thoughts of mooring on their hamble town quay- bit taken aback to find only allowed to leave boat after 5pm and overninght charge (if I remember correctly) over £2 per metre - this for a raft berth with no facilities and restricted time - swallowed and spent £10 more for berth in mercury - first time there and superb facilities - power included and enjoyable meal at on site restaurant - our conclusion - hamble harbour master doesn't want visitors - might be unfair as didn't meet any of there staff but given cost and facilities not encouraged - by contrast for us at Lymington town quay £13.50 for overnight - with useable facilites -and no time restriction
