The reason I'm interested in this thread is that I have designed a built a digital fuel gauge. I was not aware that there are stepped resistor sensors, which obviously reduce the accuracy of a gauge. My gauge has a calibration mode for linear sensors, allowing the tank to be monitored to the nearest 5 litres. It also has an averaging feature, which averages over the last 8 or 16 readings (can't remember which). I'm about to build the second prototype, so this has been interesting.

That sounds interesting too..

I have sent them an email.. So hopefully it's a reasonably priced unit..

I got mine some time ago but did not find then too expensive.

The only problem I had is that they do not export directly so I had then sent to a freight agent in NY who forwarded them on to me.

From what I remember their main market for the fuel senders is light aircraft so some form of damping would need to be included for that application.

I have 3 tanks feeding a single gauge through a selector simple selector switch and it works very well.

Yes it has been interesting and useful.
I am in the process of installing a tank sender and gauge to replace a completely useless and frustrating dipstick arrangement so I was a bit worried by O/P's problems. I have now bench connected the gauge to the sender and it all seems to work as I had hoped. The stepwise travel of the needle is visible but the movement is obviously damped. It is very certainly an improvement on what is presently fitted and will be a substantial aid to crew confidence.
