I must confess I am not the sharpest pencil in the pencil case when it comes down to carrying through this deed!........but could someone please advise me on how to upload an image to this website please? Your help would be much appreciated.

This is a FAQ on the Webside News and Feedback forum below.

The simplest way is to send a PM to Boatone who will post your picture on his website and explain how to show it.

Two mistakes that people make:

(1) Insert a reference to the filename of a picture on their own PC.
(2) Post the picture on one of the public freebie photo album websites, such as Webshots. These websites all block links from other sites, so it is no use putting a link to one of these sites on a YBW forum.

In both these cases, the user will see the picture as if it were visible, but for everyone else it's the dreaded red X!

Thanks AndrewB.....I have noticed other sites have an option were you can direct it to say 'My Documents' so you can select the file and upload it......I am surprised this site does not have such a user friendly facility!

Yes it is a little surprising, but this is effectively what Boatone is offering via his BOATSONTHEWEB site.

It's a pity...... just think of all the juicy pics of near misses we could see! ;-) Also I do think the editor is missing out on what could be some juicy stories if we had a user freindly system!

And better still, what about some of the non-misses that no-one admits to ...

The difference is that you cannot upload images to this site. You can only provide a link to an image hosted elsewhere. That's why its no use trying to refer to an image on your machine.

This makes the job of the manager much easier and keeps the size of the database much smaller.

(If you doubt me right click on any image, choose properties and you will see where it really lives)

It does seem to be rather ancient software compared with other forii where you can post avatars, arrange polls, pick quotes from other posts etc.
