Hi all,

Just a quick query , do any of you Bowrider owners carry an Aux engine ? Just purchased a SR3 Maxum and can't see any sensible places to mount one ? Previously owned a fast fisher and always carried a Aux engine , luckily never required though :)

Boat is dry stored at poole harbour and won't be attempting any off shore heroics, just some water sports and the occasional cruise weather depending ..

Just wondered what peoples opinions where , Am i being over cautious ?

If there is nowhere to mount one you haven't got a lot of choice unless you get some sort of custom bracket fabricated.. In which case I would say make sure you have a VHF and charged mobile phone with you always and maybe a sea start subscription?

Where are you dry stacked, Cobbs or Rockley? We are in Rockley..

Hi , thanks for the reply ... I have looked at the mountable brackets but as it's got a small swim platform no where to sensibly put it ... Carry a hand held VHF and other precautions ... Boat is currently sat on the trailer at Davis's boat yard Cobb's ...was all a bit of a rush to get it off my driveway before we went on holiday.it...just back today so will be sorting it's new home in the coming days !

I dont personally carry an outboard but am a member of a speedboat club that have willing members that would come to your aid.Keeping boat upto scratch mechanically wise and winterised is more important than humping an outboard about.A 5hp will push yourboat on a river but not against a strong tide or windy weather.Peace of mind having a vhf license to fall back on will bring the attention of other boats or if neccesary the rnli if all else fails. Hope you enjoy the new boat
