does anyone have a wiring diaghram for wiring up a light that will come on automatically at night and will switch off at daylight. i know that the components of the unit are light sensative switch , resistor , and switching transistor. my problem is that i donot know how to wire them together.i think there was an article in PBO a few years ago, showing how to make up this light but i dont remember where ar when.

I've got a drawing of an automatic anchor light circuit, that I downloaded from the web about a year ago. If you want an attached copy, send me a PM with your email address, and I will copy it to you - or anyone else who wants it.

Its a 38kb MS Word doc.

I must admit that the solar panel automatic switch (post above mine) is a good and cheap way of doing it. A very small and cheap trickle charge panel should suffice.

regards,
Philip

Hi !

Maplin Electronics do a kit for abt £5 - search for 'Light sensitive switch' on their search facility. I remember making one from raw components when I was 11 ! Was v.simple, but my diagram has long since disappeared. Buy the kit - much easier and for a fiver, cannot complain !

Regards ... Eric.
