Automatic Bum Cleaning

There's been quite a few similar systems in the past, none of them have stood the test of time. It maybe ok on a hull with light slime but not on anything more.

I had a feeling that might be the case. Assuming weather good and ideally you can find somewhere to get your feet on the bottom, is it worth giving it the odd scrum during the season?

Most definitely. I don my wetsuit and dive under, but do make sure you wear fairly heavy duty gloves as it's very easy to cut your hands to shreds without even realizing it. I use a plastic ice scraper designed for use on cars.

I know these are used to clean the bottom of the ship. The chassis is cleaned every day when it is in the harbor for a few hours, at a time, at a time, not the whole bottom at a time. Fuel Savings vs Cost Approx 20% Per Year.

There is no need for pleasure in the boats, because everyone here raises the boat up as a tavern, the sea is frozen.

No problem getting into the water here to do it for most of the year and plenty of shelved sandy beaches where you can use the length of the rode to easily adjust the depth the boat is at for comfortable working height. I use a good quality plastic dust pan which works fine if you're doing it regularly and saves your knuckles pan.jpg

The beauty of a lift and pressure wash is it allows you to inspect your stern gear especially, props, cutless bearings or outdrive legs and especially your anodes and if necessary change anodes or clips etc.
