AUTOHELM ST50 DEPTH.

I WAS GOING ALONG TODAY GETTING MY DEPTH FROM THE DISPLAY WHEN IN ABOUT 9 METRES THE DISPLAY STARTED TO READ ZERO. IT WILL ONLY DISPLAY 0.0 THE REPEATER DOWN BELOW ALSO READS 0.0
ANYONE KNOW IF ITS OPERATOR ERROR OR A FAULT. THANKS

Check all the wiring, replace any corroded crimps, if possible check the length of the transducer cable for any damage.

If still no good, see if anyone on a nearby boat has the same unit and see if you can try your unit on their transducer and maybe their head on your transducer, hopefully you will then find the fault.

Unfortunatley ST50 parts are now non existent, however, if your transducer is OK the ST60 will directly replace it.

Alternatively call in an electronics tech to test the set and tranducer for you.

Welcome to the forum.

Is your transducer mounted inside the hull in a pot of oil or other liquid? If so, check the level as the symptoms you describe can be caused by there being insufficient liquid.

If you have read other posts on this forum you will have noticed that people mostly use lower case rather than capital letters, which are often perceived as SHOUTING.

Thanks for your advice. I have just bought the boat which most areas in A1 condition.
The wind instrument does not work either (nothing at top!)
Thank for hit about capitals If I ask advice about that I will need TO SHOUT as i will be up the mast!

Navicom RT-650 AIS

This DSC VHF has AIS rx built-in. Anybody any experience or views if it could be a good way of getting AIS onto a PC Would a separate engine be better?
