I have a Navico TP5000 and have tried for a couple of years to find a secondhand pushpit mounted windvane but with no luck. Recently I picked up a brand new autohelm windvane at a boat jumble for a fiver and thought it may be worth seeing if it could be made to work on the Navico tillerpilot. The windvane did not have any instructions with it but there are only three wires to juggle with. The tillerpilot has a nine way socket for its accessories. Any thoughts as to the wiring, and its operation or does any one have handbooks that they can scan and pm to me?

For the autohelm .... go to Raymarine and look through the old manuals on the site - you may be lucky.

I have a feeling that that windvane is for a AH1000 - older model, and maybe not the Seatalk model.

The windvane for my AH-ST2000 (not the plus model) is shown in the manual as having four wires into the Interface unit.

The remote unit for my AH-ST2000 has only 3 wires, whereas the remote for my AH1000 has four wires. Confusing, isn't it?

There is an older windvane with string!! operated rudder reference. I have one on the boat, but don't know how many wires there are to this one. I doubt if this is the one you are referring to, or you would have mentioned the string operation.

As Nigel suggested, have a look at the Raymarine site, or give them a phone call.

If it is the wrong model, let me know as I may well be interested in giving it a new home.

Philip,

I guess the one I have is the older one for an AH1000 as it does have a length of string comming out of the base of the mounting tube. It rotates the windvane I assume to fine tune it to the apparent wind direction when sailing?

My Navico Manual for the TP300CX has six pins in potential use
1 = +12 v
2= 0v
3= Corus Green
4= Corus White
5= NMEA0183Com
6= NMEA0183 Data
Don't know if that helps
