Anybody got any idea where I can get a replacement clutch unit for one of these? It looks like the electromagnet has given up the ghost after 15-odd years (I ended up taking it to pieces back on the mooring - great start to the holiday), but I don't really want to go down the £1k-plus route of a new drive unit.

Mind you, I have to say that they're relatively simple bits of kit once you get inside them - no wonder they last so long!

If you mean the linear drive, I believe Raymarine states that these "have no user serviceable parts" so you have little chance of getting a bit to make it work!

Had problems quite recently with my unit [same model]. The fault was eventually traced to the brushes, and repaired at reasonable cost by "Ensigns Systems" of North Wales.
Perhaps it would be worth your while to have a chat with him -

Best of luck!

Explains why they won't give you a manual to take them apart with. Trouble is, they're only made of about 5 components, so it's not difficult (especially when it doesn't work anyway, so you're not worried about b*****ing it up!). Will try calling them on Monday anyway, if only to vent off. Thanks though.

Has the clutch definitely failed??

If the coil is not open circuit then generally they can be mad to work again.

Metal front case or plastic (later version)??

PM me and I will try to assist you in getting it going.
