I have a 1998 Autohelm 4000+ wheel helm fitted to my 34 ft sailing yacht. It recently stopped working. The drive belt had parted.
On enquiry to Autohelm I was told that they have sold the last of these belts in their store, none are manufactured, and only remedy is to part exchange the fitted black wheel driver for a new (grey) one at a cost of well over £300 and a one week supply time.
Advised by Mylor Yacht Harbour, I took the broken belt to

Who produced in 24 hours a new belt marked 10ATS-750. These were the same markings as the broken belt. When fitted, it worked well.
One caution, however, is that the broken belt measured 9 mm rather than the 10mm (may have been wear), and a future purchaser of the belt might ask for the next size down, that is, 8ATS-750, in order to reduce possible friction.
Naturally, I bought two belts since I do not want to lose another three days on our cruising ground while finding a second replacement should it ever be required.
