Hi all,

As the title I have an old Autohelm 2000 the one that has the separate control box and drive unit.
I want to move the control box. At present it is mounted at the stern with the front of the box facing forwards.
It has been known for the mainsheet to get entangled with it so it is not really well sited.
I have found a site that will give it better protection, this would involve mounting the unit so it runs parallel to the boat fore and aft.
I have read the handbook and it doesn't say anything about which way the unit must face. I'm sure I read somewhere for the fluxgate compass to work the unit needs to be facing forwards.

It doesn't matter which way it faces. However, it mustn't lean back at an angle of more than 45 degrees otherwise the fluxgate won't work properly.
