My lightly used (looks new) Autohelm 1000 purchased in UK long before Raymarine took over, has a broken lower casing where the swiveling shaft protrudes. Sent it to Raymarine. They sent it back unrepaired claiming they don't have parts. But, it doesn't look much different than Autohelms of more recent vintage and I would like to track down the original Nautech fabrication facility and sent it to them. It only needs the lower part of the casing and somewhere there must be that part. Anyone know the address of the factory that actually makes them (I don't think it is Raymarine). I will attempt to upload a photo showing that the mounting pin was wrenched out of its attachment to the bottom of the Autohelm.

Thanks.

I think you are on to a loser looking for original spare parts if Raymarine haven't got any, when they took over they took the staff/buildings and stock/spares.
Best bet may be to get a 'spares or repair' off E-bay. Personally I would have a go at repairing with some epoxy and maybe a modified stainless washer epoxied over the socket.

Its the way of the world now..
I have a navico tiller pilot whose under chassis on/off rotary switch knob fell off and sunk. Navico are now owned by Simrad. Phoned their HO & asked for their spares dept. They dont have one. Suggested I contacted their service dept in Port Solent - They said they couldnt get any parts or be able to repair it . Thank God for Maplin where I bought a small knob for £1.05 and and after making up the edging to look like the original all is now well.

Many eons ago I bought the original Autohelm 1000 at the Earls Court boat show. Years later and after thousands of miles, it had turned into a delicate shade of pink and sounded a bit rough so I popped into their factory in Portsmouth where they gave me a new one.

That was service - perhaps thats why they went bust.

Nautec and Raymarine are the same thing. Name has changed several times over the years as it has had different owners. So there is no other supplier or manufacturer hidden away.

Try "The Service Centre" in Wareham,Dorset, they are a well established small company who fix old autohelms and so on, no connection etc,Jerry
