Auto shut off deck filler?

"If you have a 1 1/2" deck fitting on your boat but you cannot get the suction probe at your local pump out station to fit properly, your deck fitting may not comply to ISO8099. This adapter screws into your current deck fitting and enables you to get good suction when you pump out."

Hmm, ok. The one I was idly examining the other day had a great big cone that looked like it would jam tightly into any reasonable size of opening, ISO or no ISO. I guess they're not all like that.

The redundant pump-out fitting on our deck looks identical to the water filler, except for having WASTE embossed on it.

Success, problem solved easily and cheaply.

I bought 1 1/2" threaded plastic hosetail adaptor, made a hole in the side and stuck a short piece of hose in the hole. Now I just screw this into the deck fitting, drop the fill up hose in the top, and when the water reaches the piece of hose it drains over the side.

Glad that worked and it should also be easy to build an "alarm" if you want. e.g. small container on captive line that pulls a pin when it fills from the outboard overflow pipe. Bit OTT perhaps.
