The company is defunct, as far as I know! I have the same system, what's wrong with yours? I may be able to help. I have a spare mechanical brain and control panel. Which is working. Mine is a hydraulic system, so the brain is of no use to me.

Hi Malcolm and welcome. Typing in Caps is considered rude.
Having said that, Sharp AutoPilots ceased to exist some years ago. The son of the owner of the firm lives in Ramsgate on a small boat, his name is Brian Fleurie he knows all about them (as you would expect) and can therefore probably help you. Unfortunately I do not have his number, if you contact either Marlec Marine or Davis (Davies?) Marine of Ramsgate they will help you track him down.
Good Luck !

Scary isn't it. This info is gained over a literal lifetime of boating both commercially and privately. Yet it seems only yesterday that the late John Bradley encouraged me to join the Y.C. he was then Commodore of on the grounds that "they needed some youngsters in the club" (sigh) now I am an oldie and have to share my Cocoa and talk about the latest in bedsocks, trusses & chlorestory bags with the likes of Pheran /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ooops! Did I sound that harsh? its just that using 'caps' is bad form and just reserved for shouting something. i.e. If you wrote a message and wanted to emphasise it's urgency it would be OK to prefix it 'URGENT'
This is all part of netiquette, none of it is daft, there's a good reason for it all.

Hi Haydn
Sorry for making a noise-Having had the boat fitted with the auto pilot for some years it is now starting to play up so i need to do something about it.It will steer the boat around through 180 deg. after I have been stopped and then set off in the direction I have just motored,if I let it complete the turn and then manually steer through 180 deg and switch the pilot back on it will work - untill next time
I never got any information at all about the system when i bought the boat therefore it has never been serviced at all-any information or litrature would be a help- boat is 20 y/old- not sure about system

regards
