I have a Catalac 8 meter with a old auto helm 3000 unit.
It doesn't cope with short chop type waves and am thinking of upgrading.
The link from the teleflex to the rudders in in a wet locker so I am cautious about something connected to the rudder. Unless it is very waterproof.

So I would appreciate advice on what options there are and the costs please.

My thoughts are that the more links the AH has to go through to get to the rudder(s), the more sloppy and less responsive the AH appears, so if you can build a waterproof box into the wet locker to hold the AH you will get your best performance.

My Catalac steering is connected by chain and wire and I have a raymarine wheel drive connected to the wheel. The 'brains' is the EV-100.

I know of an 8m with telex type steering and they have an earlier version of mine.

There is slack in the system but it is the cat corkscrew motion that still upsets the pilot, even with all the fancy sensors that are meant to iron this out.
