Auto Bilge pump, boat sinking

My water tank outlet came adrift and 100 ltrs plus poored out into the bilge, first I knew was the Auto bilge pump duely kicking in (and out) and as fast as the tank emptied, it poored out of the tank. It was at that point that after frenzied search for source of the leak I also discovered that the auto bilge waste pipe had multiple leaks itself and as quickly as it was pumping out about 50% of the flow was coming back into the bilge.
So on with the secondary electric pump on manual and crisis over phew.

However, checking the outlet pipe on the auto pump I found huge number of pin hole leaks throughout the 4mtr run, so words of warning check your outlet pipes - this was only three seasons old and has failed. Has any only else had this, or similar experience with hoses and how often would you check them?.

I would expect a decent hose to outlive the pump by a factor of about five. Unless it gets a lot of sunlight or abuse, it should last many years.
What material was it?

It was straight off the reel in the Chandlers three season ago (28mm waste pipe). Not much sunlkight under the floor, and doesnt get much wear and tear either? I'm going to replace and contact the manfacturers with a sample and complaint ! It resembles one of thoses irrigation hoses for the garden.

IMHO this is serious enough to involve the RYA and get a recall or warning issued.

Hose should last much longer.

Well at least the boat wouldn't have sunk since the 100l was already inside when you started your indoor water feature!

First thing to do when you discover water is to taste it, you only need to touch the end of your finger to your tongue, you'll then know where it's coming from.

The three possibilities of holding tank, freshwater or seawater are easily detected!

if this pipe has been installed for 3 years or so, is there any previous history or evidence of these pinhole leaks ?
