Mein Fuhrer und Ich used to go every year. Last couple of years however we have given it a miss. I think it's the venue we aren't keen on.
I understand the there isn't much option other than Syphilis Court also known as GWR (Gods Waiting Room). It is fairly central for all, has ample parking and the food is almost edible. So I really don't know why we are both so anti the place.

Perhaps you've said it all. I find the fear of flashing blue lights discourages me from going anywhere where some tipple is involved. My Lady Leader is always happy to drive a reasonable distance, but she enjoys a drink as well, so that's a bit unfair.
Of course could always go by boat and "park" it outside, but not being a member of either organisation I couldn't go anyway.

Actually you don't need to be a Philistine Court member to go. You can go if you have any association with any association that has an association with the ATYC no matter how tenuous. Indeed anyone who is a member of almost any Thames Club can get you tickets.
Mooring outside is NOT an option unless you know a member who allows you to double bank on them for the night.

If you are going to a function at Phyllis Court it is possible to arrange to moor on their Visitor Moorings by prior arrangement, I've done that a couple of times.

In my young and reckless years aboard something substantial (for our age that some foolish parent had leant us) during Henley Regatta my mate Bill (who was half naked at the time) turned round to the good folk sat in their deck chairs drinking Pimms and shouted at the top of his voice.....
"so which one of you lovely ladies is Phylis...." To this day I never understood why we did not get a reply

My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek, as I somehow don't think any of the Thames clubs would welcome me with open arms. Something to do with the Wrong Type of Boat...
So I joined a very nice raggie club on the Sarf Coast, who were mildly amused, but anyway let me in!
