At five o'clock this morning, Bob heard some noise next to his live aboard on the CRS berthing here at Heybridge Basin. Thinking it was the owner of the yard, he popped his head up and said, "What you doing?"

" What the [--word removed--] has it got to do with you?" Came the answer in a Broad Geordie Accent!!

" I'm calling the Police" Says Bob.

Then the 'Geordies' dropped the line of Chaz's Boat in the water and roared off down the river!! They had cut all lines bar the bow line so as to use it as a tow is my speculation.

Thier boat, the Villians boat, is reported as a 20ft Black RhIB, with a Black outboard, the two guys in it were in black overalls and wearing black ski masks/balaclavas.

It was shown in our local papers, not long ago, the new RhIB's that the Police have down at Burnham, how about them having a run over this way every now and then?

I reported that I had an engine pinched from a yard not two hundred yards away from this incident, a couple of months back. And that Blackwater Sailing Club has had a 90hp and a 70hp engine pinched as well as my 115hp.

Be alert out there for any RhIB hidden up a creek out there guys!!!

'Suspicious of the Blackwater'

Did anyone tell the Police Al? One wonders where they would take the stolen vessel out. The OSEA road, Maylandsea, Bradwell? Mersea you would think would be a bit too public.

Good for Bob.

These are my thoughts Roger.

Imagine min of what ten minutes to recover a boat from the water?

Driving around our roads at that time and prior to launch. Being stopped at that time with a wet boat on a trailer and having all that black gear and gear that they can't 'account for on/in thier vehicle?

Your friend and mine Charlie Sierra, ( If you catch my drift ), was in contact with the plods A.M. and is awaiting an appointment for one of thier bods to arrive!!!!!!

Bad drills alround if you ask me!!! thieving swines.

Anyway I wish them luck in finding them. Now that a discription has been given, and thier M.O. may be traced to lots of other crimes.

Al.

Al - I know a policeman who does a few shifts a month on the rib from Burnham. They do come round to the Blackwater - often see them in Bradwell in the summer. Presumably you have reported it. You would have thought that a black rib would easy enough to find or to be reported as seen but publicity is the problem.

Yes, I wasn't so much thinking of immediate capture although that would have been nice but I would lay odds that these were the same that lifted yours and others stuff and it would be nice for them to give a bit of thought to their methodology. Mind you while we are talking about Essex Police, I was cuffed when I reported some criminal damage and I am still waiting for an 'investigator' to come about the £2k workshop burglary I suffered 4 years ago. Got a forensic chap round despite telling them that there was none (and that I could properly make the assessment). When he arrived he said 'you are right, there is nothing'. When I phoned up later with the property list - models serial numbers etc, I was asked why I was passing that on!

I'm about to rant.

I am in touch with the chap who runs the police marine unit over on the south side of the estuary, so for what it's worth I have passed the info on to them.

Thank you !

New update on discription of RhIB, it was all Black and the A-frame had a self-righting bag above, like the Police have.

Any sightings will be well received!

Thanks guys and gals.

Al.

I wonder if they were going to pull it out at our place? I'll ask our cctv guru (who may well read this!) to check our recordings for last night.

Hi Simon, I thought of that when I looked at the post last night.
I had a look on the cameras to day and nothing came through the gate or on the hard that night

Perhaps it was them, doing a bit of moonlighting?
