I have a number of cables running inside the cockpit locker underneath the hull/deck join flange. These were attached with self adhesive pads when I bought the boat and most had come unstuck. I bought new pads but they don't stay on for long!

Is there a better way? I'm reluctant to drill holes unless absolutely necessary.

Why don't you clean the contact area with acetone, and then apply abit of epoxy resin to the adhesive pads.

Is there room to glass in a length of plastic conduit? The stuff with a snap-on lid could be fitted without re-wiring.

Had similar trouble so made up some small ply pads which l stuck on with epoxy, then put cable clips, clamps etc onto those using screw to secure them, lot better than them pads.

you could try cleening with a touch of thinners (as above) and get your self a hot glue gun from your local DIY store, this works a treat. The bigger the cable the bigger the squeeze on the trigger. Goes off very quickly as well. Is very neet and tidy

Hot melt glue gun - first clean off area and then a good blob every so often ....

TLC (Electrical distributor) produce a range of sizes of stick on cable mounts with cable ties built in. They stick to anything, and require a great deal of effort to get them to dislodge - some have a softish back which is designed for uneven surfaces like grp mat...

you could try one of the building adhesives, eg 'grabs-like-nails' after degreasing the area. I used this on a previous boat to stick cable conduits onto bare grp and it held without any probs...

Stick the pad on and then wait a while before attaching the cable. The weight or tension of a cable on a newly stuck pad pulls it off.

[/ QUOTE ]I'll second that! - Did it on last boat to stick rectangular snap top ducting up - stuck up one too many tried to remove the next day - boat still has spare cable duct!
