You will recall the discussion a week or so ago on the difficulty with the lighting at the London Array.
I emailed Trinity House, copied to the London Array and the Port Hydrographer at the PLA explaining our collective experience. I have received nice, courteous and interested responses from the Navigation (Examiner) Manager at Trinity House and the Port Hydrographer.
Trinity House are grateful for the feedback and will get one of their ships to take a view when next in the area. The SWMs in place have the same strength lights as before and the issue seems to be the fixed lights which provide too much background light. I believe those fixed lights such as Dick can see from his cliff-top should not be on. The idea of red and green paint would be against the guidance from IALA at the present time and not popular with the developers as the yellow paint job is supposed to last the life of the turbine/monopole. TH have promised feed-back and asked to be kept informed of other experiences - please PM me or post and I can pass it on. I think we owe it to provide good as well as back feedback.
The PLA were equally interested but this is out of their area of responsibility and wish also to be kept informed.
Studied silence so far from the London Array but of course the Co-ordinators may have referred the matter upwards.
