From time to time I reach for our massive Times atlas to throw light on questions like the location of the Grand Banks, the outline route if we were to sail our boat to Gozo, why it is that big ships sail so close to the bits where the pirates operate off the Horn of Africa, only the be disappointed by the really poor coverage of the seas.
The damn book doesn't even have the whole of the Med in one map (or even in two or three split up over pages). In fact it's only coverage of the Med at a scale larger then a hemisphere is incidental to coverage of the countries surrounding it.
I don't expect hydrographic office style maritime charts, but does anyone know of decent atlas that covers seas? There is enough time for me to sow seeds with Father Christmas if I start now.
