At Southampton Boat Show

Yep, next week for me too. Tuesday looks favourite at the moment, weather should hold until then.

Old Chinese proverb 'Man who sail boat into rice field, soon get into paddy'

I'm going next Saturday - Wearing the POLO SHIRT !!!!

There about same time as you, cracking day out in the sun - overdressed though - should have had shorts on.

That Predator looked wonderful, but would have to save a lot of pennies to get to nearly 4 million squid, and they wouldn't let me for a look.

Went out of my way to look at some of the raggie boats that they keep talking about on the other forum, and SWMBO make some vague comments along the lines of 'selling up and sailing around the world'. Gonna hafta ask how serious this was when she sobers up /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Sorry David,

Heading back up the A34/M40/M6 tomorrow. Will be in Anglesey on Sunday though and back at Dickies in Bangor sometimen next week introducing Arctic Fox to her nice shiny new trailer.

Then finding out if I can pull it up that big mountain half way along the North Wales coast.

Had to buy something so I bought a 1KVa Honda Generator for £675 which seemed like a bargain.

Sorry to miss you Syd, may not be a bad thing though, as I did not get accosted.

Was a beautiful day, hope the weather lasts for the rest of you.

Re: Wales

Will be passing Bangor en-route to H/head for 09.00am ferry to Dunluggary, back again Thursday night. Will keep an eye out for you but suspect you will be stuck if I do see you, so in a strange kind of way, hope I don't bump into you!

Made it today, as said weather kinda helped. Check out the bacon roll kiosk at the first road crossing, yummy!! Predator did look fantastic except check out GRP ripple 6 inches infront of first port hole, big enough to go surfin on, IMHO. Still I can dream, I wonder if they would knock off a million or 4 because of it.

Most welcoming stand, probably Sealine. Unwelcoming.......... well you decide.

Kevin

SWMBO's first time attendance inhibited normal boat show spending instincts, and came away empty handed, so may make a further solo visit. If so, I'll go have a look at the Predator ripple, and then ask what discount is available? If I can get a million knocked off, fancy going halves on a new boat? /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Sorry to say that the only reason I had to be in Southampton this last week was to visit an industrial site in Eastleigh! Due to the fact that the M27, M3, M271 were virtually gridlocked most days I delayed my trip until next week!
Sorry to have missed you though.
Still hoping to get the boat wet this year, depending on family to complete machining of engine parts - they would not let me do it!
Boat now 90% there - not complete but good enough for a sea (or very calm lake) trial!

Re: A quick tip!

Don't use park and ride, this was backed right down the M27 yesterday, yes I know it was saturday, but every raggie and his dog was just blindly assuming this was the only sensible option. In great stinkie style we sped past the queue, straight into town, ignore hotels charging £10 a day, drove straight into the leisure world cinema complex, the guy on the gate said no problem for the boat show and only £3 all day, short walk to main gate. Keep it too yourselves though!

Just got home, not very crowded no probs with park and ride, free tickets waiting for us at gate F, just got on with it, best stand was sealine, usuall looks down nose from Princess and Fairline so did not bother looking, Fleming 55 a great boat, looked at Brooms and Grand Banks, new 70ft plus Fairline looks good but too much, Azimuts look cheap in the flesh, I can see why they are cheap now, usuall talk on engine stands they dont know much but are doing there best to try and sell them, took a look at big Yanmars, very compact but selling well, watch out volvo!.

Re: A quick tip!

Yes you were right about the P&R but being a raggie I was ahead of you and didn't mind paying 6.50 to park in quay west, right on the entrance door step!

....bobbing up and down like this...............?
....show me the way to go home...............?
....my way...............................................?

On second thoughts, can you whistle?
