Encouraging news letter from Ancasta HERE
Being a cynic of course, I started to wonder about that 250 boats sold figure. Ancasta have around 16 regional offices which means that each regional office has sold less than 1 boat per week on average for the last 4 months. Not bad I suppose given the tough times but not exactly signs of a buoyant market IMHO especially as there's no information on the average value of boats sold or any comparison with previous years

It would be interesting to get more data but I dont suppose it's available. I've spent quite a bit of time at Essex BY lately and in Oct-Nov they've sold a new Sq55, 58 (to me)and a phantom50 (the last one), plus a Sq66& phantom48 (both used). They're the ones i know about becuase I've met the owners or talked about them to the yard people. There will no doubt be others that i don't know about. But I've no idea what that all really means, and how it compares to last year, and what margin cuts were suffered to make those sales, etc. I am merely chucking in a few data itams nowhere near enough to understnad the whole picture

yesterday I was aware of these super discounted sales in the Med

Fairline 50 Phantom 2003 - asking 450k sold 250k
Mochi 51 Dolphin 2005 - asking 750k sold 550k
Sunseeker 75 Predator 2001 - asking 1.1 mill sold 600k
Azimut 115 2004 - asking 7.5 mill sold 5.5 mill

all prices in EUROS
enquires are 50% less compared to Autumn 2007 period, but offers are 25% more in percentage terms with the enquires, so that means who is disturbing in these times is more of a buyer, then a year ago

Then 250 in 4 months is an improvement which is encouraging indeed

I heard about a Mochi 51 sale at about the same level myself. I think they're fab boats and very tempting at that price. To me the real shocker is the P50 because normally those are really steady sellers

Ventura sold that one, I think they list your Ferretti or used to in Italy they sold 1 for a 100k EU more
I would be tempted too
I think the 50 Phantom was a bargain thinking that a year ago you would have got an older 50 Squad in the same range...

You must have an idea on at least one of the boats mentioned /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd approached it from the other side, Princess 45 / Phantom 46 of about that age are generally listed around £250k, equals 300k euro, so it seemed a big jump to 450k asking price for a 50 footer. Maybe UK built boats are taking more of hit in euro terms, 'cos buyers can pick them up cheap in UK.

it is always in the hand of the owner to decide

I'd love to come and visit your planet some day :-)

That makes me feel my €675k was ok then. Mine was good condition and well cared for and full full extras, but maybe not "mint" as it was 8000nm/800hours

Actually i lied with the 675k to keep my post short. I took 600k money plus a part-ex which I'm confident I can get 75k for, but we'll see. I'll certianly get 20k for it, to match your 620k. For various reasons (it is with brokers at higher price) I have agreed not to advertise the part-ex boat on the 'net until Jan 2009. When we get there it will be widely advertised at very cheap price. It is >50feet, flybridge, 1990s, located in the Med, and will be under €100k. Good deal for someone - I just want rid of it fast

Well actually no SV. I know what % i got off list price, but I dont know what factory support was given to shift the last few Sq58s. I was buying what everyone in the market knew was a discontinued model. The new Sq55 had been announced (which I dont like as much but I'm eccentric, most buyers prefer the 55), so the last few Sq58s were probably not the easiest things to sell. In fact, there are a couple still unsold in UK dealer stock, 2008 and 2009 model years, and they're probably available for a great price.

yeah sure enough JFM you are invited every time, my planet is nice full of sea water (no jelly fish) and nice islands with the best anchorage inlets you can imagine /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

but how many people on here say a boat is worth what someone is ready to pay for, I speak about facts

then on the other hand you part exchanged for a new boat and that always ups the price by 20%

Yes you're right and, obviously, €250k to the owner is looking a lot more valuable by the day as the £ dives (providing he's a Brit of course)

IMO the 50 Phantom is much a better boat then these, and lives on another planet, it is one of best recent FL models, the only thing that I could critize to this boat was the bolts in the railing, newer models 2007 are not like this /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif and that it is too much similar to the 46 Phantom, but see them next to each other and you see this is another boat

Quote "you part exchanged for a new boat "

No, I merely had a part-ex underwrite for the new boat, which i have not used.

I actually sold the old boat privately, thru a broker, and took a 1990s flybr in part-ex. (At least that's the contract - there are some undone loose ends still...!) Hence, i have become a boat dealer for a couple of weeks. But I think that upped the price nicely, so was a risk worth taking
