Hello,

Myself & SWMBO have just returned from Sunny Tenerife and as usual I spent most of the holiday walking around the Marina.

We spotted what we both considered to be a beautiful looking boat that was available to charter (not bareboat) for a day (or as little as 2 hours if wanted).

As it happens we didn't get to charter her as she was out of service on our last day, when we finally decided we was going to take the plunge for a couple of hours.

However, we both agreed she was as nice a boat as anything we have ever seen (in our Noobie opinion). We had seen other Astondoa` boats on Windermere (both Flybridge) and we thought they were nice, but this really "did it for us".

Do any of you own one or know much about them? Are they as good as they look or was it the Sun & Sangria taking it's toll ?

Cheers

Like you I have heard good things about Astondoa boats particularly in terms of quality but they haven't really had much in the way of representation in the UK. Dickies of Brighton have recently taken over the distribution in the UK so they would be a good place to start. I am going over to Spain with them next week to look at the 42 IPS Fly which looks interesting as well.

as I said in a previous post a client of mine had a 46 had he always spoke highly of this new boat, which he owned for 4 years and did about 400/500 hours
now he traded up to the new 52

as in terms of quality for me to what I've seen I think they are on the same level as Princess, Fairline, Sunseeker, Azimut and the like

the 40 Open is a lovely boat and I've met a few sister boats to that one in the summer season which looks good

I know of a couple of 40 Open owners on Windermere, but i believe Aquatics have stopped sellng them. I believe they are good boats.

Where about in Tenerife were you? I am hopefully out there during the Easter holidays and my eldest wants to swim with the dolphins so need to charter for a few hours!!

Also looking to buy a small RIB/Boat for water skiing and bay hoping but need more info, the potential inlaws have an apartment with space in the garage for a 4m Rib but just have the problem of getting from teh garage to the sea. Any Boat contacts woudl be great.

Thanks

Hi.

Thanks all for the interesting replies. Good to hear it's not just us that like the look of her.

Jim, we stayed in the Adeje end of Playe de Las Americas.

The boat is moored in the Puerto Colon Marina nr Torviscas. The company that own her have a fleet of Catamarans for the Dolphins & Whale cruises. They are called Freebird Sailing. www.freebirdsailing.com (I don't think the private charter details are on that site). The boat is called "Popeye" if that helps.

I can't find the flyer for the prices to charter but it was something like:
2hrs - 450 Euros
3hrs - 600 Euros
I think the full day was just over 1,000 Euro's.

We have sailed with them in the past and they are appear to be a very reputable company.

With regards to wanting to buy a rib. I know of only one broker out there called "Total Marine". http://www.totalmarine.eu.com

They are on the first floor of the shopping precinct in the Marina. Next door to the offices for the Freebird One Sailing.

If you need any other info send me a PM and if I can help I will.

Thanks for the reply, I will look into the links, Tenerife does not seem a very popular area for boating on this forum.

Thanks once agian.

I looked at the Astondoa 40 too. Very pretty boat. They have a great pedigree and make the super yachts too. Very high standard of finish, right up there with Fairline, Squeeker and Princess. They own one of the main marinas down near Alicante, I believe, so plenty on view there of all sizes. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yep, Dickies are the guys selling them here and there is one available on Windermere. (what a waste)

The only reason I didn't take it further was the cockpit layout, which yet again is a Med configuration, i.e. mostly Sun Pad! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
