Asterie Leg 2 (Plymouth to Villamoura)

Update at 1013 via Inmarsat email

typical - I saw the low on the chart last night - no icybars at all - no local wind - we are 30 miles off the final corner sw portugal under engine, full sunshine - not a breath of wind.

Water maker pumping away loads of hot showers.

Hot batteries cooled down, at peak before I turned down the voltage regulator, the gassed enough to set off the gas alarm in the galley - fags out on deck please - cooker off!! New pants all round..

Sailed across the entrance to Lisboa BIG ships - the IoW ferry skippers could learn a lesson or two from these fellas, they slowed down, turned, all sorts to help us out in light winds, fantastic.

cheers - with luck and some winds we should be there tonight - perhaps before the bar shuts!!

7 Days at sea FANTASTIC.

Andy has confirmed his fear of heights dreaming about falling off the F8 waves !!

Update at 2100 via cellphone

11.1 miles to Villamoura, ETA 2240.

The port office closes at 2230. Anyone know if they'll get into trouble by going ashore for a beer before the form filling is completed?

Phone call at about 11pm...

In bar Villamoura, will allow Ian to close the thread. Well done all - Ian, Brian, Andy and Asterie.

Ian's relieved wife and both daughters now flying out Friday.
