Is there anyone on here that can recommend a capable marine engineer that can help diagnose an issue I have on my boat.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 7012 charplotter with GSD 22 depth sounder and Garmin AIS.

The depth reading has stopped displaying on the chartplotter and just displays -.-m instead of the actual reading.
I could up until recently get a depth reading by going to the Sonar screen and enabling an option for a depth line and this gave me a good enough reading for navigation and anchoring.

I say up until recently as the boat manufacturer has been aboard and now none of it works, we cannot even get a GPS position on the chartplotter. The one thing that changed in this time is the boat manufacturer removed the GSD 22 unit a few weeks ago and sent it off to Garmin for a health check. Garmin OK'd it and it was returned today and this is when I have just been informed that matters are now worse than when they started.

I'll save the details but this has been ongoing for some time now and my patience has gone. I need to turn to someone else that can come aboard and resolve the issue. This is on a RIB so access is good to the kit, in the Poole area.

Open to your recommendations.

Platinum Marine did a warranty fix on my Garmin set up after contacting Garmin support. Both very helpful and fixed the problem. Based in Bournemouth so often in Poole. 01202 237585

What was the solution ?

A software reset of the chartplotter and GPS units, reboot and they kicked into life. Straight away after the reset and reboot I could see satellites being locked on with seconds. AIS then kicked into life and the chartplotter went on an auto discover, few questions answered and it was up and running with full sonar capability. After a few minutes of being on it auto-discovered the engines and walked me through a setup procedure for configuring the engine display screen. All in it took about an hour to set everything back up and check it worked as before the issue. I would personally have expected the professional I had looking at this previously to have done this!

It was a suggestion from Garmin and to be honest they were awesome, sent over a load of instructions and manuals for all the kit I have. I spent the Friday evening reading it all and Saturday morning doing it.

I've always found Garmin's online help to be moderate (maybe it's me) but, when you actually speak to them, they are terrific.
