Depends on your draught.

1st HW is not until nearly 3pm so might be a late lunch but you can creep up with the tide.

2nd high is about 5pm so once you are there you should be able to stay until early evening but as you will see from the tidal curve once it starts to go it goes pretty quickly.

I was there on Bank Holiday Monday with a Sadler 29 with bilge keels. I assume yours has the same. We got right up to the Quay with about 0.4m to spare but today's tide is 0.5m less than the one we had (the quay was actually under about three inches of water at HW). You should still be Ok as far as the sailing club jetty today but I don't think you will get to the quay. The channel through the moorings is deep but very narrow and steep sided. Follow the markers carefully.

Edit:- Don't get neaped, tides are getting smaller!

The Ashlett Mill is the club's bar for food etc, but if closed and you have time the Jolly Sailor pub offers good food. As you've said the Jetty is the furthest you should venture today. Beware of the last two pile markers before reaching the jetty, it is a very tight dogleg bend after them.

That's interesting. World Tides gives 1554 and 4.1m, Tidesplan gives 1555 and 4.2m. Both for Calshot Castle. But BBC agrees with Easytide. Unusual for there to be an hour discrepancy.

TC used the old northern route in I think you will find. The new route is the more direct southern route.

The navigation marks have been repositioned to mark the new entrance.

The purpose of the links Pete and I posted was to draw attention to this change

Just a quick note to say thank you for all the guidance. On the day of the OP, squalls swept in as we entered So'ton Water, with 28kt gusts, so we gave it a miss, but yesterday (Saturday) was perfection itself... Sailed down So'ton Water to the new entrance, entered about 1 hr before HW, friendly local boats waving us in, got a spot on the downstream side of the visitor's pontoon, a short walk along the shore and a cheaper-than-the-pub pint at Ashlett Mill. *Thanks for specifics, too: it was good to go early, and the dogleg WAS tight.*

Tips: The Sadler 32 (Scirocco) from the video was there, it's indeed where the channel bears right (going in). Next, at the dogleg at the end of the channel, there is in fact a tiny arrow pointing left, about halfway up the last red marker, to tell you to turn hard to port coming in. *After this hard turn, this is where Sixthsense was (leave her to starboard). *Also, DO follow the channel, which takes you slightly away from the pontoon. *Local boats merrily zoom out past the pontoon through moored boats and moorings, and we almost did, but had 1.5m almost up to the pontoon by following the channel. *Finally, the bottom at the pontoon shelves fairly quickly, so if you have 1.5m like we do, you will touch bottom like we did (and so rafted up to a very nice couple in a Moody). *Again, thanks very much and I hope the tips are equally helpful to someone in future.
 
Just found this on SWMBO's camera (our boat alongside the quay). This was between the two high waters; we arrived at first HW and had to paddle ashore as the quay was under three inches of water.

Alright, please restrain your groans...it's an old thread but the subject is very specific and I'd like to know what all erstwhile contributors think.

I sailed into Ashlett after a long unhurried day last year, with a pal whose skippering and hospitality were such that I can't really recall anything about navigating the creek.

It looks shallow & twisty on satellite pics, and I remember no obvious marks, only a few that seemed undersized and neglected...is there anything to look for, sailing past Calshot?

Not one of the old links in the thread seem to work. Does anybody know of newer, in-date links? Thanks. :encouragement:
