Never mind that my deathless prose has been sub-edited to the very edge of meaning and beyond (I wonder how she'd sail with a crew of ten) the very lovely Silkie is this month's Reader's Boat.

Should I ever wish to sell, am I now able to use this phrase in the advert?

This is the pic.

Actually, a bloody lovely boat to sail. What a weekend that was.

Yet again there are photographs glorifying sailing without the simplest safety provisions:
  • only one lifejacket with lifeline for a crew of 10
  • hatches open at sea
  • sharp knife and fragile glasses on a surface with no fiddles
  • gas hob without a flame failure device

and worse than that they are smiling as if they are having fun!

This is the kind of behaviour that must be stamped out. John Knox didnae grow his beard so you guys can carry on like that.

Edit: shouldn't the downhaul be attached to the bridle? Stops the bending moment and puts the pole into compression

You would have found yourself in agreement with the skipper and the rest of the crew had you been aboard at the time but since FC had recently constructed the entire rig from cornflake boxes and washing-up liquid bottles (and seemed pleased with the result) we ordered him to "Carry on!" after first pointing out the error of his ways.

PS - I'll have you know that hob is fitted with multiple flame failure devices.

I was going to ask you how on earth you managed with a crew that size! :D

Actually I was single-handed but I had mentioned the CHentleman's Cruise and some of those who were on that as opposed to being on board Silkie.
