Hi.
Looking at purchasing an old 36' by 12' cruiser. Needs lots of TLC. I live almost as far from the sea as you can get in UK. Want to moor/over winter it as close to home as possible so I can give it TLC! The closest I have found so far is 1 hour 20 mins by car. It's the airdraught, 2.6m which is the main issue.
It really needs to be a marina with its own boat lift as hiring a crane is, in my opinion, silly money.
I have spent many hours researching this... I am not asking here because I am too lazy to look!! :)

Sounds like you need to relocate , or simply accept the commute.

You're stuck with coastal with that air draught. You won't get up the Nene or the Soar, let alone any of the canals!

Rack my brains as I might (and Northampton and the surrounding area was my home boating turf for many years) I can't think of anything

(We now live in Kettering and keep the boat at North Fambridge which is a two hour and a bit drive which is OK but not ideal for a one day dash to do some work and then home again)

Curious where the 1:20 location is!

Several marinas over on the Cam in the Ely/Cambridge area. 1 hour 20 mins on a Saturday morning according to google maps.

We also live in Kettering and have our S34 moored on the Trent at Farndon Marina where there is a lifter, also another at Newark marina - that is roughly 1 hr 15 to get to for us.
