Aren\'t we lucky. I mean those with boats in the water

Hi all

Well doesn’t it make you have a slight chuckle as you go out to sea on a beautiful sunny day, with the sea almost flat calm, to see all those boats lined up out of the water for the winter.

True there was one passing cloud which gave us a lovely rainbow,

though the rain just donated a few spots and went on its way,

The bit of a breeze was a tad chilly, but being skipper I had the run of the wheelhouse, the others being intent on a bit of fishing.

The lifeboat was doing a bit of DF bearing practice according to the radio chatter.

Interesting stuff. Makes you realise just how helpful that would be should the worst happen one day.

Otherwise a glorious day out on the 30th November…..and just as a little question, name the headland behind the lifeboat. I an sure there is one who can………………

Cheers /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Good stuff Drew, when was this? Tried you on the VHF Saturday AM but no response and didn't see you on the water, it was glorious.

Looks lovely. Planning to go out myself tomorrow if the weather holds out; hopefully will bag a few cod... well one of eating size would be nice. I expect to see hardly another soul out on the water.....

BRADWELL REPORT 29TH NOVEMBER 2008

Us three, that is Mick Steve and self, joined by Treeman, left the Marina at 8.15am, and having cleared the creek bounced out into a stiff North North West wind, the tide was against it, ( Is’nt it always) I was not amused, all three of us had our floatation suits on and were accused of being wimps by Treeman, who later admitted to having his thermals on and three jumpers under his smock,

We went East about 4 miles and dropped the hook in 12 feet of water, and got the squid going, it was not long before we were all into fish but a bit on the small side, about 2/3 lb’ers, this went on for about two hours, then I went in the wheelhouse and put sounder on, by now we should have had 20 feet under us but we only had 15, so the boat was repositioned and 20 feet recorded, and we started again, Bang straight away we were among much better fish

although not all of them were this size, we had lots of throw backs as well, we were being very selective, and at the end we had these for the pot

and these were a product of the red mist descending on Mick, who had not been out for a fortnight,

At high water we headed back into river and fished until dark, but the fish were all realeased, to fight another day I had hidden the club.

Ok Drew, were are the fish??

Yea, we were out Saturday, beautiful day, warm in the sun and like a mill pond. Not one other boat out while we were there. It was a perfect day for getting our dogs used to the boat.
