Your posts get more bizarre! I still don't know what a spoof increment is, and what on earth are you on about renting a room for? Do you think I run a hotel or something?

I have the NASA log (logs died a death 
, I've replaced the paddle wheel, but think so water must have crept in to murder it), Depth and GPS repeater, I was recommended the Tacktick entry level wind wireless system. It really is cracking and would highly recommend it.

Go with the NASA - at the price, and with the excellent service back up and friendly people you really won't go wrong, despite what Mr Seajet says (and he has never liked them).

I could only afford NASA wind instruments when I bought mine. I would rate them 5/10 and definitely would buy something a bit better next time, maybe with analogue displays for the wind direction and magnified wind direction. The wind instruments have variable lighting but the speed/depth lighting is either on flat out or off. It's bright enough to ruin your night vision which is rubbish when picking your way up a river or into an anchorage in the dark. NASA said they would fit a resistor to dim the display but I haven't had time to get the unit off the panel and up to their workshop. I also have their battery monitor - that so far has been very good if you use it as a volt/ammeter and ignore the charge level indicator. It's very sensitive and I can easily see if something has been left on that shouldn't have. As mentioned before, their instruction manuals leave plenty to be desired but if you're switched on enough to install the instruments yourself you shouldn't have an issues.
All that said, when I have called NASA with a query they have been knowledgeable and helpful. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. I think if I were going for cheaper instruments again I'd be looking at Stowe http://www.stowemarine.com/systems.htm Previous Stowe kit I've had was bombproof. After that I'd be looking at B&G but obviously there's a big price difference there, even for their cheaper stuff. I'm not impressed with Raymarine's lack of reliability although may people use them.

I have no frame of reference as I've never used the NASA wind gear. I do love my other NASA instruments (apart from my Log that is busted up). NASA rock as a company, great service and they are always willing to update and patch up broken bits (aforementioned log will be getting packaged up and going back to the NASA boffins for some TLC).
