Are you a member of a Sailing Club......... and why?

Not a member of a SC. Why? It ties you down to one cruising area. I like to cruise places new.

How is that then ? A club gives a mooring or berth & other facilities like hoist & winter ashore at my club, to use or not use as one likes, but you have to start from somewhere unless you trail a boat to different launch sites, with all the hassle that entails.

A couple of members have just returned from cruising right around the UK inc Western Isles, and we have the south coast inc West Country, France inc the canals to the Med', Channel Isles and Spain not that far away for a start, members go to all these and more.

Well, there certainly are people that lead a relatively nomadic existence, hopping between harbours and marinas, paying by the day, week or month. We have friends who have been doing that for the last several years and are not showing any signs of stopping any time soon. They are liveaboards, more or less, and spend months at a time on the boat, generally getting it lifted out into a convenient boat yard for a couple of months in the winter while they fly back home to do the family thing.

I don't see the logic in that. We have several members who go off to far flung places every year. Come November they are back in the bar with tales of daring dooos.
