Beaulieu Boat Jumble, tickets £7.00, thats seems rather a lot of money to go and view a load of old boating bits.

Anyone been before? and can help justify this price I would like to hear your thoughts. The local Goodwood jumble seems ok for the money but I still think charging admission to a shoping area is a bit weird. Southampton and London boatshows are slightly different as it is definetly a full day and there is loads of entertainment and features to look at.

Last year we found it incredibly useful and good value. Bought a ton of stuff at very good prices (headlining, windows, lights ....) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Definitely a place to go with a list as the sidetracking bits of stuff are always tempting.

This year we're exhibiting in BoatWorld (if you'll pardon me mentioning it!) so of course I want everyone to go - but even if we weren't I would still say we found it really excellent as punters in 2003.

I think it's well worth it. I go to Beaulieu to buy things. I go to boat shows to look at things!

I've never been to Beaulieu without getting some good bargains.

It is HUGE..
£3.00 is the norm to get ibto any boat jumble...
Beaulieu is far more than two and a bit times as big.
Its an exausting day
Also perportionatly less "fender socks and fashion" stalls
I think the prices are extortionate... but Beaulieu is by far the better value.

Alas... be prepared...... the queues to get in just bizzare

It's probably not a bad price especially if you are able to buy back any kit previously nicked from your boat.... which in turn would save your insurance claim.... which in turn suggests that your insurance company should pay for your ticket based on it being a good investment because they will save money on the theft claim!

Thats a good idea, why not cancel the insurance all togther, keep a slush fun in the nak earning interest and then go to boat jumbles to buy back your kit that was nicked, why didnt I think of that?

I have been a regular at Beaulieu pretty much from the start. Always had at least one stand. But you are right, it has become progressively more expensive and with progressivly less value from a stallholders point of view, and more and more expensive from a visitors point of view. Maybe the pips are squeaking, because the 'management' tracked me down at the office this year and almost begged me to take a stall!!
Having said that, there is not another event anywhere, that comes anywhere near it.

Far too expensive and has gone downhill over the years - used to be able to get good bargains - wouldn't bother again after the last couple of expeditions.

I have never been to Beaulieu as not local, but been to smaller ones, I have not been for 6 years or so as I got fed up paying £4-£5 to get in, to look at lots of junk, and buying things that turned out to be faulty! I did get some good buys as well, and always found it a job to get near the best stands due to too many people also trying to look, so without an entrance charge there would have been even more people there. Among things I remember seeing for sale was a Shoreline catalogue (free chandlery catalogue but they used to print a price on the cover for some reason), and a pair of used galvanised rowlocks for £5.

Definitely taking the P; I notice the opening banner of the Forum has Beaulieu advertised for Sat 25th April, £7 for turning up on the wrong day it taking it too far.

Why didn't you lot notice their 'deliberate' error? or are advertising banners and drop downs a waste of money?
