I need a an engine installation completed. Its into a wooden yacht. Job started over a year ago but the engineer who was doing it has left me dangling (and not touched it in a year). I continually am reasured that it will be done and nothing happends. Now Im not even getting responses to my calls. I really want to get this job bagged so looking for recommendations.

How much work has been done already by the previous engineer and what was the reason for not finishing the work? Was there an issue of some sort he couldn’t overcome?

My partner had a 1GM fitted as a like for like replacement by French marine (who travel anywhere for a fee) and the cost was a touch over £5k in 2019.

If you’re also requiring a new gear box, prop and shaft, engine mounts etc you’ll quickly be doubling that figure.

I’m looking at replacing an ageing Volvo 2003 so looking around at options for installation too.

I quite like the look of SD Marine in Gillingham, a one man band (with a couple of staff) and an ex Volvo engineer that’s set up on his own. His name is over the door and has a reputation to protect, keeping the company small and the quality of work up hopefully!
