Just an after thought but have you checked all the connections on the battery at sound . I is surprising how much resistance can build up between the battery post and the cable clamp it might be worth cleaning the mating surfaces between post and clamp with fine sand paper.
Sometimes a test when the battery is underload using a voltmeter between battery terminal post and clamp.
I recently had a similar problem and was surprised at the voltage drop between the negative post and engine block. A mixture of copper terminal steel bolt and aluminium casting didn't help and used a jump lead as a get you home till the engine earth connection could be dealt with.
