are eberspachers unreliable and their spares overpriced?

Thanks Jerry ... ultrasonic cleaning? Hmmm. Might just leave it 'till it breaks /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I've had the opposite experience - no problem with Eber fitted 3 years ago (even with low voltage). Ray C screen failed a week out of warranty (but cost of repair reasonable) and autopilot gradually went haywire - cured by software upgrade to course computer under warranty.

to add to my first post - the engineers (who seem fine) tell me the key is to run the motor every time you are on board as otherwise the bearings give up - I haven't upto now but will do so from now on and hope that will be the solution to a long easy life!

They are as reliable as the owner/fitter, my D1LC runs perfectly and has done so for the last 5 years, bought it off a forumite. I fitted it properly according to the pedantic instructions. Download them from www.espar.com The ex BT ones are ok, I have a steady supply of them and they are now D2s, i have a gutted D2 with a good motor etc for sale as bits if any one wants them. the control unit and pump has gone but have the rest.
