Are Eberspacher exhausts antisocial?

My Webaato has a silencer and is very quiet, sometimes If I'm on the pontoon near the exhaust I have to put my hand near the exhaust to tell if it's on.

My Eber makes the roaring sound when running at full pelt. I would feel somewhat embarrassed running it for longer than half hour or so if I had someone moored to my starboard.
It came with the small metal silencer when I got the boat, however this wasn't fitted. I contemplated fitting it when I took the Eber out for servicing, however decided against it because of the concerns about gas leakage.

Someone suggested fitting the "proper" silencer, what is this?

Sleep at last, well it could have been permanent, his eber was left running and the exhaust for that also filled our small cabin. Didn't realise as the noise was minor but the consequences could have been serious. Awoke groggy to say the least, breakfast at Naburn.

Potato, meet exhaust outlet = no CO poisoning. ;)

Mine has the silencer, but it is still far from inaudible :(

But it's a moot point, as I would never run it in a marina where there is shore power -- and why would anyone burn diesel fuel? And precious hours between expensive Eber service? When they can plug in a silent, oil-filled radiator? [now where's that scratching its head smiley when you need it]

Oh give us a break, I have only just fitted a Webasto so we don't have to run the genny all night to keep warm.

Okay plan C then, a coal fired stove - those with white sails should raft up with caution if the weather is cold.

Very unsociable, you can fit silencers, and a lot of responsible owners do. I spent the night at Hamble Town Quay Sunday night, there was an ebespacher running on a motor boat that had stopped for dinner, but they were only there for a while.
They left and I thought I would then get some sleep, but I could still hear one, on a mooring somewhere, it ran all night and it sounded as loud inside my boat as my own engine running would.
Ive slept on boats with them running, and I know they are quieter inside the boat thats using them than outside it.

I wouldnt sail all night and day single handed because of safety concerns over lack of sleep, yet I am forced to sail after a night without sleep by boat owners that might never have thought about how much noise their heater exhausts kicks out.

Sorry, but an Eber exhaust pales into insignificance compared to my own grumbling anchor chain, that sodding nightclub in Cowes yacht haven...and the cardinal sin...clanking halyards!

Can't be bothered to read all the posts but yes, they are bloody anti-social, noisy and smelly!

Most (There are 1 or 2 users who respect others but not many!) people I have the displeasure of tying up next to who have them are equally judged as they don't tend to see the problem of thier fumes and noise filtering into my boat!

FFS, get an oil filled rad instaed, more sociable and far cheaper to run!!

I'm pleased someone has mentioned that. I was moored in Mercury, a goodly while ago, next to another forumite. His snore sounded like a brick rattling down a drainpipe. I mention no names.
Heater exhuasts, is it just a case of envy? If it were really annoying I knock and politely ask if it could be shut off. Yet after one or two single malts I tend to sleep soundly.......and probably snore loudly.

How laughable. Get some earlugs if it worries you that much.

I had my earplugs in, at some point you too will get to experience a night devoid of sleep because of someone not bothering to fit a silencer, and you too will wonder, WHY!
