Well first off congrats to both of you, well done.

Throw in my twopennorth having had the opportunity of looking at all the other replies first of course.

As I see it you've got three options really right now. Or maybe four.

1. Use it for the summer, or till it gets too uncomfortable or unsafe for a very lumpy lady to be jumping on and off the boat, doing ropes and stuff, then get rid. Problem as others have advised is that it tough(er) to shift a boat at the back end of the year. So you'll end up this time next year with new born sprog trying to decide whether to sell it or not.

2. Sell it now. As jfm suggested take a flyer on it, put it up for sale for £5K more than you paid and see what happens. If you get an offer then you can always ask us again whether you should sell it or not.

3. Use it for the summer on S.Coast then take it to either the Thames or the Ouse. But it won't fit on the Ouse though. Too high, so bitamoney to spend on having the radar arch made foldable. But what will that acheive? Still a long (ish) journey for you, at least an hour and will wife and newborn cope better or worse on the river? Lots more mooring up and stuff for Heidi on the river, what with working through locks etc. But is it the right sort of boat for the river? If you want river boating maybe chop it in soonish anyway?

4. Yes I knew there was a fourth option. Use it for the summer, then take it out of the water and put it in storage somewhere for a couple of years, till sprog 2 is big enough to go boating. Perhaps your garden, or big garage or farmers barn maybe somewhere near home so you and Brad can still go and sit in it and go broom broom and do all those virtual trips. Pretty good in the winter too.

5. Aha, another option's just occurred to me. Do a straight swap for a nice rivery type boat that could also do sea work (jfm hinted at this one). Something like a Mirage mebbe?

You can always come out for a day with us to see if you like rivery stuff on the Ouse and I'm sure there'd be a volunteer from the Thames too.

Cor decisions decisions eh? I hear you used to be indecisive but now you're not so sure.

Re: ooh er yes Congratulations

Yes. Deapest sympathy Barry. That is on coming up with your daftest idea yet. Oh before I start. Congratulations on the keel laying of Barry mark 111. Many happy returns. Back to the plot. You wassock. Steaming nit!! We had 25 norfolk broads holidays, cos we had young sprogs. Easiest place to coral them when small. Is on a boat. They cant climb out untill bigger. Can park boat next to pub and sit on top drinking beer. While short person sleeps down below. Dont remember any trouble taking ours from deapest Lancashire to Norfolk 6 or 8 hours away with traffic jams. Much better than hols in hotels and things. Dont have to leave floozies with short ones 10 floors up, just to go to the bar. Cant understand your problem. Get some chicken wire and nail it down over the boat if it worrys you. Then you get the best of both worlds. Short chap cant escape and you and SWMBO get sun burnt. Even if it is in dimond fashion!!

No one can force me to come here-----------

Is this a considered reaction, or knee jerk ?
Either way, a mans gotta do, what a mans gotta do.
Other than that, congrats!!
BTW taking "precautions" doesn't mean locking the bedroom door!!!!
