Are AA Lithium batteries by Energizer much better than Varta AA alkaline batteries?

As the heading, more expensive but not any info on useful life etc. My experience a couple of years ago was that they discharge just as quickly in my Cobra h/h as Varta but I believe that the Cobra does seem to have a permanent small discharge even when switched off...

Non-boaty but i always use Lithium in my front door lock after finding that alkaline seemed to run down too fast for my liking. Seems to have fixed the issue

I've found the lithium batteries excellent. Probably an extra 30%-40% compared to alkaline. Whether that makes them more cost effective I don't know.
