I'm venturing west of Kintyre next week, and am looking for some local advice on the entrance to Ardinamir Bay.
1. Is there a transit at the entrance?
2. Is the channel wide enough to permit overtaking?
3. Do I need to give way to outbound ferries when entering?

I suspect the answer to 2&3 might be "no" but I'd appreciate an answer to 1....

Thanks,

Douglas

I once left the porthand buoy at the south side of entrance to Ardinamir to starboard on entering and got a right earful from Eilleen. In my defence, the spring tides were excepionally high with the grass disappearing many fathoms (metres) under water, and the kye paddling. QHM launch off having a little light refreshment fortunately.

Are we all talking about the same Ardinamir here?

The one I know (and have only been in once before) answers (1) yes, (2) you do have to be joking and (3) be serious..

I'd add to that - its worth putting a tripping line on as there is something down there that a couple of people I know have snagged on.
I was wondering which ferry that might be?

You dont perhaps mean Ardminish?

Answers to your questions are:

Yes
Yes
Yes.

Ardinamir is a few miles further north than Ardminish, Gigha....
